Some of those rankings are questionable.

UGA coach Kirby Smart as #10 has to be a knee jerk reaction to losing to USC-e. He immediately turned that program into a national contender and has kept them there since he was hired.

Jimbo Fisher at #9 is kind of ridiculous. They play Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia this year. Anything less than 5 losses is golden and going to a bowl is the high end of what is expected. Are they really going to buy out his $75mil contract and all his assistants. I don't think so.

Dana Holgerson in year 1 as #20? Sure. Why not.

Manny Diaz in year 1 as #30? Sure. Why not.

The only one on there that I think should be higher is Charlie Strong at USF. He's either lost the locker room or has devolved into a terrible coach. There's no reason USF should be this bad.

Switching over to the coaches salaries, I'm struck by the fact that VT is in a 6 way tie for 25th place in coaching salaries at $4mil. Even though $4mil is a lot of money and we probably couldn't afford to buy out a 6 year contract if we wanted to, it's nothing that 30 other programs aren't willing to do. And that salaries list is behind schedule. They still have Petrino at Louisville and Urban Meyer at tOSU.

Also, Fuente is one of the youngest coaches in FBS. At 42 he's 8 years under the average age even though he's been a head coach for 7-8 years now. This Jerry Kill hire might be the best thing we've done in a long time. As it can only help out a young coach.
