Never saw him as a bad cultural fit...
He was a grinder sure and maybe rubbed some of his assistant coaches the wrong way (see James Johnson), but I thought he really embraced the overall culture of VT.
He was very blue collar in his approach and how his teams played - again grinding out wins with defense, ball control, etc. He was great with the fans, both in giving away tickets that he purchased and holding open Q&A sessions at Dietrich.
I was surprised to see his firing because he was as successful with VT MBB as anybody thought VT MBB could be. I thought I remember Weaver saying something about his rational on the firing coming down to watching his assistant coaches leave?
