For those of you looking for a good young kids experience - the White Mtns
in New Hampshire. Go to Santa's Village and Story Land.
1/4 the price of Disney. 1/4 the wait for rides. New Hampshire in the Summer instead of Florida, so MUCH cooler.
My wife and I took the kids there 4 different years, and the kids loved it each time. Hotels are pretty reasonable too, or you can camp. When you're not going to one of those 2 parks, then hike up a mountain stream similar to the Cascades at VT, or take a chairlift to the top of a mountain, or go explore a cave.
One more comment on wait times. In our 4 times visiting NH, we only 1 time waited in a line for more than 15 minutes, and that's probably with 6 visits to Santa's Village and 4 to Story Land total in those trips. One time my wife and kids were able to go on the log flume ride at Santa's Village 8 straight times before they decided to get off. The staff just let them stay in the boat and keep going becuase the park had just opened, and the park guests hadn't made their way back yet to that ride for the line to build up.
Loved it, and I can't endorse it enough. The parks I mentioned are probably good for kids up to about 12. After that, they may not find the rides exciting / challenging enough, but the outdoor activities are still there.
