There really is no off-season anymore

In the late 70s/early 80s my dad would take us out of school nearly every January and we'd go to Disney for a few days - lines were virtually non-existent and we could ride everything multiple times. A couple years ago I did something similar with my kids in October and February and had no such luck. Crowds aren't as bad as Christmas or summer but it's not far off. I can think of lots better ways to spend that much money.
