I’d have to see the formula for the metric
Garbage in, garbage out. What’s it measuring? How are the factors weighted? How is Keene’s metric affected by the performance of others? How has his role changed? Would a role change affect the value of the metric?
We can make numbers say anything. Maybe Keene is consistently becoming a worse player year over year. The more he works out and studies film and learns his position, the worse he plays. That seems likely. Maybe our coaches are so bad at player development that all our players get worse the longer in the program. Not only do they not get better, they actually become more terrible at playing football (that would be something).
Or maybe the metrics are garbage. I have a few years of training in multivariate statistics and psychometrics. It seems more plausible to me that the metrics are not valid than that our players get worse year over year.
But I could be wrong. It is possible we have the worst coaching staff in the country or they have a malevolent motive to destroy players’ careers by making them worse.
