A friend just retired there and decided to move to Chesapeake, VA for the affordable housing.

Cheasapeake appears to be only 11 miles to where your wife works.

My friend has been there for a year now and purchased a condo. He likes it so far, but he came from NOVA/Ashburn sucks traffic and it is much better down there even though the locals will say otherwise. Yes, they have bad traffic and tunnels, but not NOVA bad traffic.
