It was early afternoon in Germany. I had been in meetings all morning. Coworker told me to go see the news on cnn. We all were watching as the second plane hit. As most of us lived off-base our commanding officer sent us home to be with families. While obviously America was attacked on 9/11 I think we all recognized our vulnerability living overseas

The next morning going on to base every car was met by multiple German army guards armed with sub machine guns. While that eased in time, heightened security was in place for the next 18 months

Prayers for all who lost their lives in 9/11 and all those that served and died since
