Tech said that the SEC rumors were 'poppycock', but we'll probably...
never know the entire story. As for the Big 10, I know that the Big 10 was interested in a few ACC schools besides Maryland. Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, and UVA were mentioned on message boards during that time, but once again, there was never 100% evidence that any of those rumors were true. There were also rumors of the ACC having interest in Penn State, Indiana, and Purdue. I have always found the addition of either Purdue or Indiana intriguing. Indiana or Purdue would bridge the gap between Louisville and Notre Dame and place the ACC right in the heart of Big 10 country. I seriously doubt that either of those 2 schools would ever join the ACC because of the Big 10 buyout and also the money that they're making from the BTN.
