USF has made a concerted effort to recruit top in-state students

They are are offering cash, on top of the state bright futures program, to many students that UF won't, especially pre-meds. UCF is also offering cash and FSU is pushing some very convenient double major opportunities in the sciences. My son (2007) and daughter (2010) both opted for UF but several of their friends took the money and headed to Tampa, Orlando, and Tallahassee.
