I'm sure the staff is aware of the team's deficiencies.

Much has been made of Fuente's demeanor during this past Saturday's post-game press conference. To me, he struck me as a man who was visibly frustrated by his team's performance. I'm sure he is aware of the problems. However, being aware of mistakes and being able to correct them from one week to another are two different things. I think Coach Fuente knows he doesn't have a magic wand to fix the 2019 Hokies (much as he didn't have one for the 2018 Hokies, either). On top of that, to become the head coach at an FBS program, one has to have supreme confidence in himself. I'm sure it's not easy to finally admit that what you have been doing might not be working.

All of this is not to say I'm giving Fuente my stamp of approval (not that it would mean anything), but I am positive he sees what we see. He may differ in his opinion about what the answers are, but I have no doubt he is aware of the things that aren't working. However, at $4 million/year (or whatever his current salary is), his job is to figure the answers, and QUICKLY. At this point, time is not on his side, and I have a feeling he is aware of that, too.
