Thought I would check in while I am sitting in Colorado Springs waiting on my flight back to the NRV. Mekhi has had a great week out here, and will stay through Saturday morning. He has been able to go w/ the likes of James Green, IMar, Dake and few others leading into World simulation matches which will happen Thursday and Friday. The camp is focused on the World Team prep: techniques, game planning and situational awareness were a couple of the points of concentration. This years world team as in the past couple years is going to bring home some serious hardware! Mekhi continues to gain confidence and is poised to make a splash throughout this Olympic year! He will come home for 6 weeks, train in Blacksburg, before his first international competition of the year in Yakutsk, Russia for the Intercontinental Cup. Exciting times ahead. Couple of questions regarding ORS, and I will try and answer.
-Mekhi will not be taking any classes this year. His collegiate academic and athletic career virtually pauses for this year, and will be back at it next fall. He will be off of scholarship for 2019-2020.
-Mekhi will not compete in any folk style events. All of his competitions and training will be freestyle based. He has gap to make up experience wise, and getting as many FS competitions as possible are paramount!
School started yesterday, so we will ease into it this first week and get into our preseason workouts after Labor Day.
We still have 3-4 monster 2020 recruits still on the board, which I know excites some of you and then on to 2021, whom we have been in strong contact with in the last 2 months!
Lastly, still time to get in on the Golf Outing, which happens in 2.5 weeks!! We have a strong contingent of golfers, and our sponsorships will soon surpass last year.
