I suppose there is a clause in there that could

potentially preclude taking classes

in 12.8.1.6.2:
"The member institution in which the student-athlete is enrolled must establish to the satisfaction of the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement (by objective evidence) that the student-athlete was unable to participate in intercollegiate athletics as a result of participation in one of the activities listed in the above legislation for a specific period of time."

If Mekhi were to enroll full-time, on-campus at VT, it would be hard to argue that he's unable to participate in intercollegiate athletics.

But if he took one online class while clearly training for Olympic freestyle, I could see that being ok.
