Once you figure out if a guy isn't the right fit, then move on. Remember Jayln Holmes, the DE from the 757 who went to Ohio State? From everything I heard (and noticed at a camp), he didn't like Blacksburg at all, and there was no chance he was coming here. That's fine. Once you figure that out as a coach/recruiter, just move on. Don't fight a losing battle.
