All of our HS classes are 1 semester, they get new classes in 2nd

for full semester classes they go every day

for PE and many electives they are 1/2 semester where they go every other day. But rather than MWF they are a Day 1 and Day 2 schedule, so if there is a snow day on Day 1, the day they come back becomes Day 1.

For the most part it makes sense. The odd thing is the way they calculate credits. My son needs 2 English and 1 PE credit to graduate (he's starting his Sr year). That means he can take 2 English classes but has to take 2 PE classes because PE is a 1/2 credit class and he will graduate at the end of the semester. He then has the choice to file the graduation paperwork or he can take several of many Community College classes, some that are taught in the HS or go across the parking lot to the CC and take them there, all for free.
