I'm talking about the O-Line specifically here, other units higher

In my mind, no matter what style of offense you run, it will not be consistent if the defense gets pressure with a base line rush and can drop their safety into coverage regularly. When D lineman are getting upfield immediately, the offense can't operate no matter the style. Some offenses can better deal with it if they have a QB and receivers that can connect on quick routes and break free after the catch, but there aren't many that can succeed regularly with that. To me, at least creating a stalemate on every snap and allowing the back to hit the line in a straight line is the absolute min level of success. I don't think we've had that in many years, including last year.

I believe there are expectations every year, some are more stretch than others and its possible the expectations for the line have not been realistic either because of lack of talent or development (probably both). I would hope those expectations have not been met for the last decade or the expectations have been way too low.

I hope you are right that we are starting to see a new tradition of building and developing dominant O-Lines as that is the key to competing for championships IMO.
