Are you talking overall expectations, or expectations for individual units?

And I think oftentimes, now especially, the fans' expectations are not the same as the coaches. I think the running game is an example of this.

As VT fans, many of us still expect a good/great running game headlined by an exciting and explosive TB. This was the foundation of many offenses that were inconsistent yet somewhat explosive in the passing game.

I do not think that is the foundation or expectation Fuente has for his offense. I'm sure he'd love a Jones/Williams/Suggs type RB, but it looks like he wants a solid, dependable QB who can distribute the ball to a number of receivers, and a running game that can keep a defense honest--at least that is what we've seen so far (maybe because we've lacked a better RB. Maybe he's just adapting to what he's had & been able to recruit). Maybe King changes this in 2020?

I'm not sure there are long standing Oline expectations at VT. Long standing frustrations and hopes maybe. But I think we may be seeing the beginning of a new Oline tradition, if Fuente & Vice stick around long enough to develop these young guys and then also recruit over them as well. If they remain the best recruits ever, then it'll probably just be a single good oline that we may enjoy in the next few seasons.
