Yeah, the portal is just publicizing what has been happening for years.
I think kids might be more inclined to enter into it right now so they can get some official feedback on what their market is. McClease, for instance, I think went about it the right way. Kumah, on the other hand, should have not burned the bridge so he could have come back.
In general, I favor the side that benefits the players. I appreciate that their education, training, tutors, housing, nutrition, etc is all a form of payment, but they are still the ones not getting officially paid and putting their body at risk. They should get the advantage of mobility. I would, however, favor some rules changes that give the schools more rights to shut down their scholarships, for instance, once a kid says they are leaving. That might encourage a few more to stick it out. Nobody needs the Trevon Hill situation undermining their program from on campus.
