and immediate eligibility criteria are two different issues. On the immediate eligibility criteria I think there just needs to be consistency in application and more clearly delineated criteria. On the portal, I think mobility for kids is a fair thing. I do believe their could be some better rules though where the portal was administered similar to restricted periods in recruiting. Entry to the portal could be closed around the season, mobility would not be severely restricted and it would allow a reasonable cooling off period for all parties involved. As an example, close the portal from Aug.1 through Dec. 15. That allows fall camp and the season to proceed in an orderly fashion without impacting the early signing/recruiting periods. There may be better windows for opening and closing but, I do not believe 24/7/365 is in the best interests of kids or the schools.
