My first guess too. I was on a business trip in SF several years ago


and as our group was driving around the city surveying the work sites for the coming week, we made a game of stopping and grabbing real estate flyers and playing the Price Is Right with them.

We quickly figured out it was pretty close to a 8-10x conversion factor for Roanoke real estate prices vs. SF. A very modest 1100 sq ft 3BR, 2BA house that would go for $100-120K in Roanoke was about $1M in SF.
