We just concluded an awesome 5 week SERTC training cycle last Friday. Intertwined with camps, the boys had 4 days of technique, 3-4 days of strength and conditioning , and 3 days of live wrestling for 5 weeks! 7 of our 10 freshman have been in class, and participating in all practices, as well as some future Hokies who took part in our Summer Camps!
Most of our guys will take a week or two back home and then be back for the duration, moving into the fall semester. Mekhi and Ty went to the OTC for the last week of the training cycle and Mekhi and myself will go back out at the end of the month. Ty Walz headed to Belarus today for the Medved International Tournament, which he took 3rd at last year, and upon his return he will get married in Blacksburg Saturday August 17th! w/Coach Brewer being married the following week August 24th in Washington!
I know many of you have questions about Olympic Redshirts, Medical Redshirts, Regular Redshirts, etc...and so do we. But I can tell you that these last 5 weeks have been the best summer training cycle I have ever been a part of. This teams youth and potential is off the charts, there will soon be battles at almost every weight, with extremely high level talent. In the next 2-3 weeks we will have some some answers to some questions at a couple weights, but for now our Frosh are lighting it up, Borst is going to be a force, and our new coaching staffs synergy is pretty special!
Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in helping out with the SERTC Golf Outing September 13th, we always welcome the help and sponsorship opportunities. This will once again be an awesome weekend of events in Blacksburg! (Golf, open practice, SERTC tailgate)
As always I will try and answer a few questions throughout the week, but until next time...Go HOKIES!
