Candidates are few and far between

Looks like the only viable candidates would be:
UNLV
Nevada
Boise St
New Mexico
New Mexico St
Wyoming
Air Force
Colorado St
BYU
Utah St
Fresno St
San Jose St
San Diego St
Hawaii

I would think the PAC wants more states instead of going into states where they already have schools, so that would cut the list to UNLV, Nev, BSU, NM, NMSU, WY, Hawaii, and maybe BYU (more national than just Utah).

From that list, you could cut BYU (religious), Hawaii (travel) and NMSU since I don't think the PAC would take a low level independent as a member.

So, it looks like UNLV, NEV, BSU, NM and WY would be the candidates. Those states ranked by population:

Nevada 32
New Mexico 36
Idaho 39
Wyoming 50

While those states are in the bottom 40% in population, the trends for Nevada and Idaho are really positive for the next several decades. Those 2, along with Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Washington are growing at double digit growth rates, well above the national average. Add in California, and the population trends for the next 30 years are very positive for the PAC12.
