Great blueprint to go off of. If MY can get this team back to the tourny

In the next 2 or 3 years and be there consistently for his coaching years 4-10, a new coliseum might be warranted. But for now, it's not. Average butts-in-seat attendance is still far below the posted attendance average per game, and believe it or not, people spend as much money at the game in concessions, clothes and other memorabilia as they do tickets. So when they don't show, the cash flow is cut in half per seat. That's a lot of money being left on the table by people not showing up.

Random hypothetical. 2000 people who spend $12/seat in concessions don't show up/game. That's $24k a game, or $360,000/yr of untapped potential. Then for argument's sake, let's say only 1/3 of that goes towards the Athletic Dept. $120,000/yr over the past 15 years (ACC membership) is $1.8M that has been left on the table by people simply not going to games. That doesn't include the lost attendance during the end of SG's tenure and JJ's 2 years of dismal attendance. That also doesn't account for a lot of other factors (donations to the school, merchandise sale, etc.) The fan base could've built a new coliseum since ACC membership, they just haven't supported the one sport that generates money in that building.

If you want a new coliseum, you have to support the program first. This isn't Field of Dreams where if you build it, they will come.
