We struggle to pack Cassell, not sure a fancy arena solves those fundament
al issues that contribute to low attendance. We made the NCAA the last few years, play in the ACC and played a really exciting brand of basketball. If we can draw enough students and alumni to attend the games not against Duke, UNC, & UVA then I am not sure it makes sense.
Blacksburg is a tough spot for continuous alumni engagement and attendance for basketball. Create a fun atmosphere for fans and alumni with perks before and after the game that make the long trek worth it. Then focus on a great game atmosphere.
Creates perks for alumni who give lots of money to Bball but don't buy season tix but travel 4-6 hours for 3-4 games a year. decouple the actual tickets from before and after game events. tie it only to level of giving. The goal to bring in more money, but get butts in the seats.
