Depends on what kind of tailgate you want. Alums or students

If you look at the map in the link below, lots 2, 3, 5 are right by the stadium for easy access but will cost more. The advantage for you is if you go over to the right in the yellow area, there is a bunch of student apartments and they do a bunch of tailgating on game day if you want him to see that.

Or if you want to see campus, lots 13, 14, 20 are closest to where he would have engineering and a lot of other classes.

Or if you just want game day atmosphere, the lots closest to the stadium will have the most people, especially for a game against Duke. So lots 1-5 and 8 might be your best bets. And for reference, lot 1 will be closest to a lot of the non-school stuff like the gym and some of the dining halls for you to check out.
