Most of what you say....


is accurate. Not sure that they had star ranks when Bruce came out but, if they did he would not have been a 2 star. Everybody knew who he was and he had a lot of big names chasing him. That load of firewood and the NCAA chasing VT was what typically happened when the NCAA's chosen few lost a desired recruit to a school not in the club. Engleberger was lightly regarded because he weighed like a buck 90 and change coming out of high school. A great story of developing late. Rudolph's car injury may end up keeping him under the radar as far as development and evaluation but, at 6'4" and 202 that frame has a lot of possibility depending how he develops. There are very few "diamonds in the rough" these days with camps, film etc. but, situations like missing time due to injury or coming late to the sport can cause kids to fly low on the radar of bigger programs. The typical blue bloods have enough high profile guys that they do not focus their attention on developing guys unless they have some other connection to the kid. That is a plus for VT recruiting efforts.
