FB is worth billions of dollars at the pro level, and it is the main revenue producer for a lot of athletic departments at the collegiate level & especially the HS level- there’s no other HS event that involves 3 different extra curricular activities. And while participation has dropped off, the drop off has been marginal and there are still over 1 million HS football players in the US, which is more than any other HS sport. And the sport still offers the lion’s share of scholarships at the collegiate level, which may be the only avenue many kids that play HS football have to go to college. Like anything else, $ will decide football’s future- it’ll die if people stop supporting it.
