Somewhat of an old-timer’s point of view

Still don’t understand why people get so bent out of shape when an 18 yr. old changes his mind. As someone who was a student during the 2-8-1 ‘91 season, I am thankful for how far the program has come. Imagine if Beamer would have been fired after that season. I think, all things considered, Fuente is slowly building the program back up to where it needs to be. We all knew when he was hired this was not an overnight fix. Last year’s disaster was the perfect storm of attrition and youth being thrown from the fire into the frying pan. I think Fuente did the best he could with what he had. At the end of the day, I want a 9-10 win season and recruiting classes full of 4-5 star recruits just like everyone else on this board. But the truth is, I enjoy the ride every year, win or lose (as long as we beat uva). I’m thankful that we have a team that plays on the national stage every year and the bowl streak. But, what I’m most thankful for is tailgating with old friends that I made while at Tech. So those of you out there that say the sky is falling, I’ll say this: step back from the ledge, trust the process and don’t concern yourself with the decisions of an 18-year old. Focus on the journey and not the destination. That to me, in addition to copious amounts of bourbon, is what makes college football so great.
