Next up- What is Mike Young Basketball? TSL Expert article series?

As an uneducated fan, I’m definitely interested in what to expect from the future MBB team.

BW liked to play interchangeable guards and was limited in attracting true big men because his style of play required a lot of transition scoring and full court play. It also definitely seemed to me that BW’s style evolved while at VT to place greater emphasis on D to create turnovers and transition that maybe wasn’t as prominent 2 years ago. BW also seemed to have a pretty effective inbounds play, even if an occasional shot was juuuust off the mark. Arggh. Med it hurt me worse than it did you!

How does CMY coach? What are his fundamentals? Strengths and weaknesses of recruiting, coaching, etc.? What do we know from previous Wofford teams? How will that change in ACC play?

One thing I did notice was how seemingly easy CMY was able to attract 2 big men, on short order, at a definitely challenging time of year. I don’t know that BW would be able to do that a year ago- I don’t know if he had to face that now at aTm, maybe that’s changed after this past year’s success.

Im not expecting gangbusters results this winter, but I’m thinking we’ll start to see CMY style. It’s probably a little easier to imprint style on a new BB team than football because there are less players and less plays.

Next up. Go Hokies Basketball!!
