And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way to your question.

For whatever the reason, Carrie `apparently believes that OK State is a better fit for her, both on and off the field. Whether it's because of her graduate studies or because she wasn't happy with the situation at VT, she has elected to take advantage of the transfer rules and she has the right to do so because she graduated in 3 years - one heck of an accomplishment.

From what I have read, those closest to the situation point to the graduate studies as the primary reason, so I've accepted that explanation. It's certainly possible that there's more to it, but it sounds like the family is trying to take the high road, so let's respect their decision.

I am very confident that Carrie gave us 110% while at VT, and I am glad we had her for 3 years. She helped lead our Hokies to the NCAA tournament and she was a HUGE part of this year's turnaround. She won multiple awards for her performance (including ACC Pitcher of the Year) and made us all proud. As I mentioned, she got a Hokie degree in just 3 years. Not a bad day's (or 3 years) work.

She comes from an awesome Hokie family and I'm pretty sure this was a really tough decision for all of them. I wish her the best, just like I do/did for Jordan at Oregon. If they feel OK State, is the right place for Carrie, then that's good enough for me. It doesn't mean I'm not disappointed, but I do understand.

It will be interesting to see if ESPN sets up a VT - OK State game in Clearwater in February. I'm thinking that's a storyline that's too good to pass up.
