I agree but generally speaking

I think boosters tend to base their decisions on "feelings" instead of looking at it from a "purely business standpoint" because they are emotionally invested in the school and/or the program. I mean how many posters on here said "they hope or want to see VT send Coach Beamer out on top because he deserved it for all that he did for the school"? So the first "down year," they gave Coach Beamer a pass and believed that next year everything will be back to "normal" (aka 10 win seasons and whatnot). When things didn't go as planned the next year, fans moved the "hope" to the next year and the new "cycle" started over again.

Generally speaking, it may be tough for fans to know when to hold onto the "hope" and when it is best to let go so their team can "turn the page."
