overlooks or fails to adequately consider is that without football and basketball those AD's have no bigger picture to consider so everything does revolve around those two. The P5 football money that flows to the individual schools keeps departments and non revs afloat. The basketball money from the golden goose known as the NCAA tourney supplements the P5 football programs and pretty much carries all other member institutions. The California legislation is just another case of the idiots on the left coast trying to legislate something without fully evaluating the potential ramifications. It is absolutely sad that a state with so many assets and advantages has one of the most inept state bureaucracies to ever exist. As for the NCAA model, it is showing more cracks every day and will find itself facing significant hurdles going forward. Many do not believe Emmert is a guy capable of leading that organization through change and member school presidents are going to have to make a choice at some point. Do they continue to hire lap dog yes men or try to find a real leader with the skills to navigate the gathering storm.
