Eh, like everything, it's more nuanced than that


I think we force a lot of people to go to college at 18 years old who have absolutely no idea what they want to do in life and won't know for another 10-15 years. So, they end up taking something easier like English, History, Art Appreciation, etc only to realize 10-15 years later that they should have picked something more specific.

People evolve and grow at different rates. Some people know at 16 that they want to dive into coding, or go into cyber security, or become a doctor. Others have absolutely no idea. I was in the latter group and stumbled into Advertising almost by mistake. But, that's worked out well for me. I make good money for my age and I mostly enjoy what I do. But, I have a friend who has an English degree who's unemployed right now because he really doesn't know what he wants to do. I'm very sympathetic to that group.
