Saw an early a.m. shuttle launch from somewhere along Indian River

then saw the first night launch of the shuttle using a pass formerly available by mail/lottery to get on the KSC property. We estimated the 1st launch was 11 miles away (probably along 515 somewhere) and the second was less than six miles away. Most people around us said the shuttle was a whole lot quieter than the Saturn V.
