Anyone ever do a rocket launch AT the Space Center?

We spend roughly 2 weeks each July in Cocoa Beach, and probably get some kind of launch about every other year or so. We usually watch from the beach, which is neat enough, but generally pretty underwhelming. Even last year's night launch of a Falcon (heavy?) was just sorta meh. Looks like there's a pretty good chance we'll get a launch again this year.

If the timing works out, I figured I could take the crew to the Space Center and see the launch from there. My son and I haven't been in several years, and my daughter has never been...so we'll probably visit there this year either way.

I'm guessing the place is pretty much a madhouse though on launch days....probably to the point that the increased crowds lessen the enjoyment of the rest of the place before/after they light the candle.

So...the choice...

A) Suckier space center visit plus (much?) awesomer launch from 3 or 4 miles away;

or

B) Grate space center visit on a quieter day and a suckier launch from ~20 miles away

Anybody have anything here?

If it makes any difference, this launch is going from the military side, but on the map the AFB pads are about the same distance from the space center as the civilian pads..
