How long from your initial swelling to needing a knee replacement

I am 56, and the docs sees two knee replacements in the next 10 years.

My left knee swells at times, but I wear a knee brace especially when working on the horse farm. I am never in pain, but the swelling impedes me from bending the knee fully.
