If...we somehow keep KJ (I don't think we do)...

We will have a roster as talented as I would have desired in Year 3 of MY's tenure upon his hiring.

I like him; I was OK with the hire, not elated, but I liked his coaching acumen and I felt he would get the talent he needed to Blacksburg, in time.

I did not expect Nolley to stay. I was concerned about Bede but thought we had a 50/50 shot. I did not expect Cone to consider VT. I knew KJ was gone. And I did think we would get guys like Ojiako and Alleyne, but only after MY put in a year or two on the trail.

I figured this years roster would have to be filled with a few Cattoor's (solid players that MY could offer an ACC roster spot to) and a couple Branden Johnson's (grad transfers who could get one year on the big stage) with a couple of Aluma-esque transfers. (Good players who could step up, kind of like Zack LeDay kinda guys) I thought we'd have to go find about 7 of those guys and the eligible ones would log major minutes and maybe a couple would start.

Heck nah, we have one Cattoor, one Branden Johnson and one Aluma and only need one of those three to produce solid minutes this year. IF KJ comes back, we have four Top 100 players rostered, and I thought we might have to wait a couple years to land a single Top 100 guy and just hope some of our three stars developed into top tier guys, like Deron Washington.

Again, I'm feeling KJ wants a bigger stage next year than year one MY can provide, although I'm hoping our roster might convince KJ he can have a good group here. Could be a fun year next year.
