Moir took over an NCAAT team from DeVoe, and the field expanded in '84

I would say he had a significant leg up on the competition, then was buoyed by the fact that the schedule was bad outside of one game a year vs UVA and 2-3 games a year against Memphis and Louisville. On the other hand Buzz took over a consistent last place performer in the toughest conference in the country. I'll give you Moir did a lot for the program, but we sure as hell cratered after he left (yet to be determined for Buzz tbf).

My biggest gripe with that argument is that Moir never actually won in the tournament the years we were in the Metro. Sure he won a fair amount of games vs Louisville and Memphis who were the only ranked teams we ever played, but he never beat anyone else.

The exposure we got the last few years under buzz was immense, just look at the list of national level wins:
2018: Beat #23 Purdue, #23 NCST, #3 Duke, Sweet 16 appearance
2017: Beat #10 UNC, #2 UVA, #15 Clemson, #5 Duke
2016: Beat #5 Duke, #12 UVA, #25 Miami
2015: Beat #4 UVA, #7 Miami

I would realistically argue buzz got us the most exposure in the history of the program, but we did have the NIT championship and a previous S16 appearance.
