Then why don't we see the 6'-8" - 250 pound "athlete"
from foreign countries (Where soccer IS king) playing soccer in those countries?
The reason is soccer "athletes" require different skills. That extra size really only comes into play on set pieces and is more of a detriment to stamina which is much more important in soccer than in almost all major sports, hockey being a definite exception.
Not trying to argue which is a "better" athlete, that is in the eye of the judge - different sports just require different athletic skills.
Yeah a few QBs WRs or DBs might currently choose football over soccer in the USA, but there aren't any lineman, backers or even NBA centers that could compete in international soccer, even if they decided at a young age that is what they wanted - their bodies are incompatible with the sport. Just like the 5'-10" 175 pound great soccer player couldn't play football, even if he started at a young age.
and with the continuing decline of youth football participation (which I hate - love watching college football) that is regrettably happening, you are seeing some a lot of kids trying "new" sports.
