Rec soccer is vastly different than professional and international

soccer simply because rec games has unlimited subs during a game. Whereas, pro and international games are typically limited to only 3 subs for the game (unless special rules are used for friendlies).

Also, rec soccer is not concern about goal differential which can matter when 2 teams are tied in points in the Group Stage. Given that FIFA has already determined where the 16 teams advancing to the Knockout Stage will be slotted, a coach may want to position his/her team so that they end up on a certain side of the bracket because of where the other teams from the other groups will be placed. I say that because in prior World Cups, teams have played for a certain outcome (i.e. a tied instead of a win) because the coach wanted his/her team to avoid ending up in the same bracket as the Host Nation, Brasil, Spain, or Germany because said team was very hot during the Group Stage.
