Yeah, I think it's finally starting to become fairly common when the
content is available. Youtube, Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, are all capable though from looking at the list, it looks like it's only compatible with certain hardware etc (see link)
When I said resolution was done, I just meant that screens have gotten into diminishing returns in terms of resolution. Content providers and streaming services have plenty of room to use that capability. However, in my opinion, I'd rather see 1080i with decent contrast/color (really bit rate) before 4k.
I think that's really what was to blame, for instance, for the Game of Thrones debacle, rather than everyone's TV's being misconfigured. Three reasons I think that, 1) I know they compress the heck out of it 2) what I saw was large regions of a single shade of black which is an mpeg compression artifact 3) the real obvious thing is that I can put a downloaded dark picture up on the screen and see it fine.
