Are there maybe a couple of riffs that Slash uses? Maybe. But I see specific riffs like software methods. They're building blocks. Nobody owns rights to the building blocks. They're for everyone to use. The professional value and artistic license lies in how you put the building blocks together
At the end of the day, music is just a collection of sequences of notes.
Slash's opening in Sweet child of mine is a great sound. But is that specific block of music original content, or is it just a block another musician might make use of in a different way?
