The Big 12 has discussed a plan amongst its schoola

To convert all non revenue sports to club sports if basketball and football players start getting paychecks. Participants in the club sports would be required to foot the expenses for their sports activities not covered by revenue generation for each team. I would expect other conferences have also discussed alternatives if the basketball and football teams get paid. One exception would be some female teams in order to have an equal number of girls on scholarships to offset men’s football and basketball.
