I have seen the closed circuit camera in the bball gym

minor stuff that happened at every campus. Coaches aren't allowed to watch recruits play with current players. At colleges with less money, the coaches just openly watched from up in the rafters of the stadium (out of sight, but not really out of sight). At VT (Greenberg era), the video of the court was on the TV in Greenberg's office and he was telling the student manager who to sub out and when. Even more deniability, but a violation that every team was doing.

I was at Michigan State last summer, walked through the basketball facility on a tour. I noticed a practice gym that you could look in from the lobby. I didn't recognize anyone but it seemed like a recruit working out. I turned around and when I looked back, the windows had been fogged over so we couldn't see the court anymore. Why would Michigan State pay extra money to put in glass that fogs over on command by someone remotely (on the court, in the office next door, who knows)? Must be something they don't want others to see.

GC is talking about more serious stuff which I don't doubt happen, basketball is a sport that struggles with ethics sadly. Just sharing old stories here to help de-fog some of the maroon glasses. We built a new facility...and installed a closed circuit camera system into the head coaches office. Sure, that could be used for approved purposes, but it wasn't and likely still isn't. This story is but the tip of the iceberg and GC knows much more about that iceberg than I do.
