1. Biddison home run robbery vs Clemson would’ve increased ERA
2. Holesa’s diving snag vs. UNC saved 2 runs (from Walks) and saved the game, helped lower the ERA.
3. Thomas diving catch vs. BC saved an earned run (from a walk)
4. Madden’s diving plays at 3rd that would’ve been doubles and scored earned runs.
5. The Owens twins multiple diving plays saving runs up the middle.
6. And lastly - Menken’s loosing a spleen to save a no-hitter helped lower an ERA.

ERA is a millennial stat that should be a team stat. Base on Balls is solely controlled by the pitcher (and who’s calling the pitches).

I don’t think we have enough character space for the rest. But hopefully that explains the “possible false/positive”. Pitching talent is much improved for sure. Maybe we need to look beyond the actual players?
