Given that the Big Ten limits how many tickets are given


to the visiting team, I am not sure that many more people could attend an away game @Rutgers than @Michigan State or @Iowa. I didn't include UMD because Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium would be called "Lane Northern North." ;-)

So while I see your logic and don't necessarily disagree with it in principle, I do wonder if it would make that much of a difference when put into practice. Another reason I would prefer to see VT play Iowa or Michigan State to Rutgers is it could help VT expand its recruiting net into new states that may have fertile ground (i.e. Chicago, lumberjack OL from MN/WI, Naptown which may already be helped by playing @Purdue, etc). At least VT is already able to recruit in NJ without playing Rutgers, so I am not sure all that much is gained from the series.
