I think you have to consider a person's background too...
Guys that grow up poor are doomed when they get their first million. Even middle class people act a fool when they get their first million. Especially if you are in your early twenties. There was a documentary on ESPN. Vick actually had a decent financial advisor, but the guy quit because Mike wasn't listening. They can advise you, but they can't force you to do anything. He ended up handing over his finances to some woman recommended by a teammate. Of course she told him to do whatever he wanted. Meanwhile....she was helping herself to his money, she fleeced him and that teammate out of a lot of money.
