One of the greats, certainly a pro

She got a lot of flack in the 70s for being passe, the "world's oldest virgin" which was really unfair, every generation thinks they invented sex, especially during the sexual revolution. A lot of that 50s - 60s cuteness was a reaction to the depression/WWII, already had a little too much excitement, time to buy a house, join the club and live a calm, ideal life for once, and she delivered her part of that. All that stuff was pro, quick, lively, funny, witty and even a layer of depth: life is unpreditable in Hitchcock's "The Man who Knew Too Much" or labor relations (sugar coated to be sure) in The Pajama Game. (Bonnie Raitt's dad John was the love interest)

May have to go and watch a few old movies now.
