He was a 3-star high school recruit and he had 20 offers from the like of


Boston College, North Carolina, East Carolina, Louisville, Virginia, Pitt & Mississippi State to name a few.

There are guys that Tech had like Dyrell Roberts who was a high school track star that Tech brought to school to play receiver because of his speed. It showed, that while he was fast, he lacked high level D-1 receiving skills.

Beck on the other hand is/was a legit high school football player. You don't rush for school record 1900 yards and score 32 touchdowns if football is not your game.

More significantly however is Fuente' history of filling his offense with speed guys. That was what he did at Memphis, and he's stockpiling speed guys at Tech now. That is key to Fuente' spread offense that relies on faster position players beating the defender to the point of attack.

I expect this fall. we'll start seeing Beck returning kids, and McClease, Holston and Wheatley being the main running backs. But look beyond to '20 and '21, and Beck will contribute from the back field
