First Hokie woman in US Open, not first VT golfer in US Open...

VT male golfer, Tim Collins, played in 1972 and 1976 US Opens, finishing 44th in 1967. Tim also played in 5 PGA Championships.
While at VT, Tim was am All-American golfer. Collins was the first scholarship golfer at VT and had the highest finish ever for a VT golfer at the NCAA's. He finished 3 strokes behind Hale Irwin in 5th place in the 1967 NCAA Championship. He is the first golfer ever inducted into the VT Sports Hall of Fame.
