As always, take things with a grain of salt

"32 conferences = 32 automatic qualifiers for the conference tourney champions or the regular season champions if the conference does not have a conference tournament.

That leaves 32 at-large bids. At least 11 but probably 12 of those will go to the SEC. That leaves 20 remaining. 5 more will go to the PAC. Down to 15. 3 for the Big 12 and 4 for the Big 10 brings it down to 8. 3 for the ACC and we're down to 5 at large berths remaining for all of the bubble teams.

Now imagine if Elon wins the CAA tournament. They get the automatic bid, and James Madison would get an at large bid. Down to 4. Next imagine Missouri St. winning the MVC. They get in, and Drake gets an at large bid. Down to 3. How about Indiana winning the Big 10 tourney at home. Now down to 2 at large bids for the bubble teams. And if UL doesn't win the Sun Belt..."
